In an effort to recognize the good work being done
in some of Kentucky’s nursing homes, we are pleased
to announce the KYIQ BEST PRACTICES AWARD.
This award will be given in
recognition of nursing homes that represent best
practices in the field of long term care. These
practices have been proven to result in superior
care which preserves the health and dignity of the
residents, and provides a positive workplace for
caregivers.
Our selection of facilities to
consider for this award will be based in part on the
newly announced HHS Star Rating system. In order to
qualify for consideration, a facility must have
earned either an overall 5 Star rating, or have
earned a minimum of two 4 or 5 Stars in the other
categories. One of these must be in the category of
Staffing.
In addition to the Star rating, a
facility must be able to demonstrate best practices
in the areas of staffing policies and incentives,
training programs, support of resident families, and
other criteria.
It is our hope that this
recognition of facilities that provide exemplary
care will help create a climate of culture change
which will invite other facilities to adopt these
best practices, thereby improving the lives of their
residents and employees.
